BD urges Iran: Stop recurrence of Saudi Embassy-like attacks

Bangladesh on Wednesday called upon Iran to take ‘urgent measures’ to stop the recurrence of incidents like attacks on Saudi Embassy in Tehran and its Consulate in Mashhad.
Condemning the recent attacks, Bangladesh Foreign Ministry in a statement said as such acts are in clear violation of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, 1961 and the Vienna Convention
on Consular Relations, 1963. “It’s the responsibility of the host government to accord necessary protection to the diplomatic and consular missions within its jurisdiction as these are inviolable under the international law,” it said.
A number of Saudi allies have joined diplomatic action against Iran after the Saudi embassy in Tehran was attacked amid a row over the execution of a Shia Muslim cleric.
Bahrain and Sudan have both severed relations with Iran, and the UAE has downgraded its diplomatic team.
Saudi Arabia on Sunday severed ties and gave Iran’s diplomats two days to go.
