Several foreign television channels witnessed in Bangladesh telecast horror and ghost films almost everyday. One of such channels stresses that the story bears truth. However, they admit in their cautionary lines or disclaimers that some elements or scenes may exert adverse psychological impact on children, pregnant women, old and weak-minded men.
Such conception as to the truthfulness of the stories is wrong and what is wrong should not be allowed to be seen by the Bangladeshi viewers. With respect to the people’s right to choice, we think that the government must have something to do in the greater inrterest.
