A landslide at a quarry in Sylhet has left a female worker dead and three others injured.
The incident was reported on Monday from the northeastern district’s Jaflong.
Local police OC Delwar Hossain said the deceased has been identified as 18-year-old Shampa Das, who hailed from Netrokona. The landslide occurred around 9:30am, killing
her on the spot, he said.
Three other workers have been given first-aid, added the police officer. Landslides are often reported from Sylhet quarries. A similar incident last week left seven workers dead. As many as 29 quarry workers have died in landslides in the last 11 months.
