Detectives Branch (DB) of Police have recovered almost the entire Taka 3 crore stolen from the Chittagong office of Group Four Securities (G4S), an international security solutions group.
DB police recovered the money from the residence of Mohammad Bashir, a Muezzin of Government City University College mosque, which is run by Chittagong City Corporation.
This was disclosed by the Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) commissioner Abdul Jalil Mondol, at the briefing of the newsmen at its auditorium yesterday.
He said police detained Mohammad Bashir with Tk 2.99 crore fifty thousand but failed to detain the main culprit.
He said the money was found inside the two bags in his room beside the mosque in the early hours of Tuesday.
“We are trying to locate the main culprit and conducting raids for it,” Mondol said.
The money was stolen from the vault of the Group Four office in the early hours of Sunday from its city’s khulshi office.
