Stocks witness upward trend on higher transactions

Stocks witnessed upward trends on Tuesday as major indices of both Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges were found finishing upward trend with higher transactions of some large-cap securities.
The day’s trade value at DSE increased to Taka 710.53 crore from Monday’s Taka 639.31 crore and the daily trade also rose to 19.65 crore share from 17.51 crore share of the previous session.
The broader DSEX of DSE closed the day with 28.47 points up at 5,381.89. The blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with 12.42 points up at 1,901.84 and with 6.37 points up at 1,255.73.
At DSE, out of the day’s 336 securities, prices of 130 securities closed higher against 172 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were ACFL, Desh Bandhu, BBS Cables, Legacy Foot and KBPPWBIL. The major losing issues were Imam Button, Savar EFR, Shyampur Sugar, Zeal Bangla and Dulamia Cotton.
BBS Cables topped the turnover list followed by UPGDCL, Regent Textile, SIM Textile and DSSL.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with upward trend with its major CASPI 105.40 points up at 16,544.32.
At the CSE, 244 issues traded while 104 closed higher against 115 closed lower when 96.32 lakh shares worth Taka 33.39 crore changed hands.
