Stocks witnessed upward trends on Wednesday as major indices of both Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges were found finishing upward trend with higher transactions of some large-cap securities.
The day’s trade value at DSE increased to Taka 724.44 crore from Tuesday’s Taka 710.53 crore. But the daily trade fell to 19.13 crore share from 19.65 crore share of the previous session.
The broader DSEX of DSE closed the day with 24.07 points up at 5,405.96. The blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 3.45 points up at 1,905.29. But the Shariah DSES closed the day with 4 points down at 1,251.73.
At DSE, out of the day’s 338 securities, prices of 141 securities closed higher against 163 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were National Life Insurance, Padma Life, Legacy Foot, United Insurance and Trust Bank. The major losing issues were Shyampur Sugar, ACFL, Imam Button, Savar EFR and HR Tex.
ACFL topped the turnover list followed by BBS Cables, Legacy Foot, PTL and Peninsula.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with upward trends with its major CASPI 63.66 points up at 16,607.98. At CSE, 244 issues were traded. Of those, 90 closed higher and 128 closed lower.
