Stocks witness up on large-cap vibe

Stocks witnessed upward trend on Tuesday as major indices of both Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges were found rising trend with higher activities of some large-cap securities.
The rising major sectors were insurance and textile. A total of 181 securities of the large-cap group moved up on higher activities.
The broader DSEX index of the DSE closed the session with 52.56 points up at 5,299.07. The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 7.33 points up at 1,226.44 and with 16.36 points up at 1,876.71 respectively.
The volume of shares increased to 14.85 crore from Monday’s 12.60 crore shares and the daily turnover in value at DSE increased to Taka 552.49 crore from Monday’s Taka 442.81 crore.
At the DSE, price of 231 securities out of the day’s 338 traded issues closed higher against 73 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were SKTRIMS, United Insurance, MLDYEING, VFSTDL and Queen South. The major losing issues were Standard Ceramics, DBH1STMF, Emerald Oil, Peoples Insurance and East Land.
KPCL topped the turnover leaders followed by Shah Jalal Bank, Summit Power, PHARMAID and Advent. The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with upward trend with its major CASPI 180.41 points up at 16,227.57.
At the CSE, 240 issues were traded. Of those, 166 closed higher and 49 closed lower while 1.07 crore shares worth Taka 30.19 crore changed hands.
