Stocks on Thursday witnessed upward trend as major indices of both Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges were found rising with higher activities of some large-cap securities.
The major rising sectors were fuel and power, textile, IT sector and food and allied. A total of 130 large cap securities moved up on higher activities.
The broader DSEX index of the DSE closed the session with 17.19 points up at 5,606.02. The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 followed the same trend with 2.26 points up at 1,252.19 and with 5.18 points up at 2,137.29 respectively.
The volume of shares increased to 50.39 crore from Wednesday’s 45.33 crore shares and the daily turnover in value at the DSE rose to Taka 14,862.69 million from Wednesday’s Taka 13,985.11 million.
At the DSE, price of 361 securities out of the day’s 181 closed higher against 120 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were LRBDL, Metro Spinning, EGEN, NFML and TAUFIKA while the major losing issues were EBL, Dhaka Insurance, Meghan Life, Prime Life and Delta Life.
RECKITTBEN topped the turnover leaders followed by Unilever CL, Marico, Berger PBL and LINDEBD.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with upward trend with its major CASPI 63.75 points up at 16,208.89.
At the CSE, 288 issues were traded. Of those, 164 closed higher and 90 closed lower when 2.28 crore shares worth Taka 56.95 crore changed hands.
