Stocks witnessed upward trend on Tuesday as major indices of both Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges were found rising trend with higher activities of some large-cap securities.
The rising major sectors were travel and leisure, textile, tannery industry and cement. A total of 145 securities of the large-cap group moved up on higher activities.
The broader DSEX index of the DSE closed the session with 30.03 points up at 5,371.30. The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 2.76 points up at 1,271.02 and with 1.08 points up at 1,911.86 respectively.
The volume of shares rose to 29.22 crore from Monday’s 23.24 crore shares and the daily turnover in value at DSE increased to Taka 1088.19 crore from Monday’s Taka 901.26 crore.
At the DSE, price of 183 securities out of the day’s 339 traded issues closed higher against 99 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were Peninsula, Sino Bangla, HR Tex, Legacy Foot and Confidence Cement. The major losing issues were Aramit, Standard Insurance, Rahim Textile, BPML and Jute Spinning. BPML topped the turnover leaders followed by BBS Cables, RSRM Steel, PDL and PTL.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with upward trend with its major CASPI 87.17 points up at 16,548.79.
At the CSE, 250 issues were traded. Of those, 152 closed higher and 73 closed lower while 1.95 crore shares worth Taka 62.17 crore changed hands.
