Stocks witness flat on lower transactions

Stock markets witnessed flat on Monday when daily transactions declined on lower demand.
The day’s trade value at DSE declined to Taka 873.12 crore from Sunday’s Taka 1054.93 crore and the daily trade fell to 19.42 crore shares from 22.39 crore shares of the previous session.
The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the day with 8.88 points up at 5,348.07. The blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 4.53 points up at 1,913.06. But, the Shariah DSES closed the day with 5.88 points down at 1,268.69.
At the DSE, prices of 130 securities out of the day’s 339 closed higher against 168 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were Padma Life, Asia Pacific Insurance, RANFOUNDRY, Aziz Pipes and BD Auto Cars. The major losing issues were Jute Spinning, Meghna Pet, Dulamia Cotton, Beach Hatchery and Meghna Condense Milk.
