Stocks witness flat on lower transactions

Stock markets witnessed flat on Wednesday when daily transactions declined on lower demand.
The day’s trade value at DSE declined to Taka 883.23 crore from Tuesday’s Taka 1,176.91 crore and the daily trade fell to 20.13 crore shares from 29.68 crore shares of the previous session.
The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange closed the day with 16.43 points down at 6,235.71. The blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 7.60 points down at 2,270.30. But the Shariah DSES closed the day with 5.74 points up at 1,369.07.
At DSE, out of the day’s 325 securities, prices of 148 securities closed higher against 139 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were ECABLES, BD Thai, MERCINS, RSRM Steel and PHARMAID. The major losing issues were Rahim Text, ISNLTD, In Tech, United Insurance and Mithun Knitting.
Square Pharma topped the turnover list followed by BRAC Bank, FAS Finance, Shahjalal Bank and GP.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with downward trend with its major CASPI 50.39 points down at 19,330.08.
At CSE, issues traded 241 while 111 closed higher against 100 closed lower when 1.28 crore shares worth Taka 54.75 crore changed hands.
