Stocks witnessed flat on Wednesday as major indices of both Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges were found slightly rising up on higher activities of some large-cap securities.
The rising major sectors were textile and insurance. A total of 135 securities of the large-cap group moved up on higher activities.
The broader DSEX index of the DSE closed the session with 15.68 points up at 5,361.11. The blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 2.07 points up at 1,872.44. But, the Shariah DSES closed the day with 3.69 points down at 1,231.26.
The volume of shares increased to 21.58 crore from Tuesday’s 21.41 crore shares. But, the daily turnover in value at the DSE decreased to Taka 679.59 crore from Tuesday’s Taka 683.49 crore.
At the DSE, price of 176 securities out of the day’s 340 traded issues closed higher against 131 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were RN Spinning, VAMLBDMF1, Family Textile, Islami Insurance and Standard Insurance. The major losing issues were MLDYEING, Monno Stafflers, RD Food, SILVAPHL and ITC.
DSSL topped the turnover leaders followed by WMSHIPYARD, Brac Bank, PTL and BBS Cables. The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with upward trend with its major CASPI 52.20 points up at 16,428.97.
At the CSE, 247 issues were traded. Of those, 114 closed higher and 105 closed lower while 1.35 crore shares worth Taka 29.77 crore changed hands.
