Stock markets finished the third session of the week on Tuesday flat as major sectors closed the session with falling trend.
The major losing sectors were food and allied, financial institutions and engineering. A total of 188 major securities moved down due to lower activities.
The broader DSEX index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the day with 0.65 point up at 6,236.59. But the blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES closed the day with 3.40 points down at 2,214.09 and with 5.10 point down at 1,375.30.
The trade value at DSE declined to Taka 1,508.74 crore from Monday’s Taka 1,525.89 crore. But the trade volume was increased to 53.27 crore from 52.93 crore shares of the last session.
At DSE, out of the day’s 330 securities, prices of 70 securities closed higher against 230 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were Uttara Bank, Pubali Bank, National Bank, Mutual Trust Bank and IFIC. The major losing issues were RELIANCE1, SHYAMPSUG, FAS Fin, Rupali Bank and BBS Cables. NBL topped the turnover list followed by IFIC, Al Arafah Bank, Ifad Autos and Uttara Bank.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with downward with its major CASPI 9.52 points down at 19,372.14.
At CSE, issues traded 252 issues. Of those, 54 closed higher and 169 closed lower when 3.20 crore shares worth Taka 78.02 crore changed hands.
