Stocks tumble amid fears of coronavirus infection spike

The key indices of the country’s two main bourses plummeted today amid the fear of coronavirus infection spike since the country has started to roll back to normalcy.
However, indices jumped sharp over the floor price on Sunday as trading resumed after two months of shutdown due to coronavirus outbreak.
DSEX, the key index of Dhaka Stock Exchanges (DSE), decreased 1.5% or 60 points to reach 3999 by the end of Monday’s session. The blue chip index DS30 also dropped by 18 points to 1347 and shariah index DSES dropped by 21 points to 929.
Most of the issues or 230 company’s share prices remained unchanged, while only 27 company’s share prices increased and 70 declined.
The total trade, however, has reached to Tk197.76 crore on DSE trading floor.
Earlier, DSEX decreased 1.5% to reach 3992 points and the total trade was Tk133.87 crore within the one-and-half-hour of early trading.
Besides, the port city bourse Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) key index also slumped today. CASPI, the key index of CSE has declined 127 points to reach at 11,341 by the end of the session.
