BSS, Dhaka :
Stock market saw further fall on Monday with large-cap scrip’s losing most to the continual slide in share prices, triggered by the heavy selling for profit booking, cashing in and repositioning.
The benchmark DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) came down to 4914.71 with 23.94 points loss when 100 issues of A-category closed in red among the 148 lagging issues.
Most of the new issues also faced the slide, tilting the market to the buyers. But, buyers were cautious in making fresh investment apart from repositioning from high-cap group to the mid-cap scrips, especially to the mutual funds.
The cautious buying reflected in the day’s transaction, which declined significantly over the previous session. The turnover value fell to Taka 709.77 crore and the volume to 15.97 crore shares from Sunday’s Taka 857.75 crore for 19.24 crore shares.
Amidst the volatility in price, 127 issues advanced out of the day’s 302 issues traded. Among the advancing issues, 15 were from mutual fund sector alone. Orion Infusion was at the top of the gaining list of individual performers followed by Pharma Aid, Dacca Dye, Agni System and Golden Harvest.
Western Marine Shipyard suffered most among the day’s 148 lagging scrips. The other major losing issues were Paramount Textile, All Tex, Shurid Industries and National Tubes.
