Stocks show strength ahead of Eid holiday

Stock market on Sunday was in strong recovery mood, with taking the DSEX over 4600 points mark and driving the daily transaction upwards despite lower volume of trading.
DSEX, the broader price index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), gained 15.28 points to at 4615.20 when the blue-chip DS30 and DSES were up 15.95 and 2.54 points to finish the session at 1811.20 and 1136.27 respectively.
The day’s trade value was up by 16.03 percent to Taka 553.75 crore, but the trade volume declined marginally to 12.35 crore shares.
Out of the traded 310 issues, 123 gained, 145 incurred loss and 42 remained static.
The day’s top gaining companies were MBL1stMF, Aramit Cement, AIBL1stMF, ATCSLGF and Saiham Cotton. The major advancing sectors were food and allied, telecom, pharma and fuel and power.
The lagging sectors were textile and cement when the major losing issues were Hakkani Pulp, Rupali Life, Family Textile, ACI formula and Standard Ceramic.
ACI topped the turnover list followed by Lafarge Surma, GP, ACI Formula, Beximco Pharma and BEXIMCO.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed Sunday nearly 29 points to 8645.25 when trade value and volume was Taka 45.76 crore and 1.21 crore shares respectively.
