Stocks see up on large-cap vibe

Stocks saw upward trend on Wednesday as major indices of both Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges rose with higher activities of some large-cap securities.
The rising major sectors were engineering, textile, bank and financial institutions. A total of 167 large cap securities moved up on higher activities.
The broader DSEX index of the DSE closed the session with 52.74 points up at 6,072.33. The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 5.29 points up at 1,321.54 and with 20.96 points up at 2,188.99.
The volume of shares increased to 19.48 crore from Tuesday’s 15.78 crore shares and the daily turnover in value at DSE rose to Taka 663.74 crore from Taka 537.47 crore of the previous session.
At DSE, out of the day’s 333 traded issues, price of 210 securities closed higher against 78 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were Western Marin Shipyard, SEMLIBBLSF, Regent Textile, NBL and Union Capital. The major losing issues were Shepherd, Shaha Denims, Reliance Insurance, Aamra Net and Monno Ceramic.
Lanka Bangla Finance topped the turnover leaders followed by BRAC Bank, Western Marin Shipyard, KPCL and IDLC.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with upward trends with its major CASPI 196.56 points up at 18,829.85.
At CSE, 241 issues were traded. Of those, 166 closed higher and 50 closed lower when 1.72 crore shares worth Taka 74.52 crore changed hands.
