The daily transaction at Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges rose significantly on Monday indicating that the investors were returning to the bourses with fresh commitment.
The trade value at Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) surged by 18.75 percent to Taka 490.39 crore while the volume increased by 13.13 percent to 14.29 crore shares.
Similarly, the trade value at Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) rose to Taka 42.21 crore from previous day’s Taka 29.42 crore, with the trade volume surging to 1.54 crore shares from Sunday’s 98.92 lakh shares.
The higher activities drove the prices of the majority of the traded issues up at close. At DSE, 194 securities closed higher when only 81 issues were lower at close. A total of 150 issues advanced on CSE against 71 lagging scrips.
The gaining issues across the board pushed the major DSE index over 4400-point mark. The DSEX finished the day at 4431.65 gaining 52.42 points. The blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES also advanced to 1678.10 and 1068.82 accordingly.
