Participation was up at Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) on Sunday when share trading began after three days of long weekends.
The daily trade value and volume increased at the close though price indices performed mixed. The daily trade value at DSE rose by 6.33 percent to Taka 468.69 crore and the volume by 3.88 percent to 11.12 crore shares.
On Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), the daily transition, however, was marginally down, with the volume falling to Taka 29.78 crore from previous Taka 30.39 crore and the volume declined to 91.47 lakh shares from Thursday’s 91.95 lakh shares.
The steady rise in transaction drove the two selective indices at DSE marginally up when the broader index closed flat in red. The DSEX at the opening neared 4600 points before closing the day at 4577.61.
The blue-chip DS30 and Shariah DSES ended at 1773.68 and 1128.60 respectively.
The number of losing issues heavily outnumbered the gaining ones, with only 78 securities advancing against 199 lagging issues. Similarly, 56 issues gained against 143 losing scrips on CSE.
“Lack of market confidence, slow investment situation and rise in flow of money into national savings certificates and bank deposit despite fall in interest rate muted the stocks movement,” said Lanka Bangla Securities Limited.
