BSS, Dhaka :
Share price indices increased on Sunday on speculative buying, expecting higher return in near future against the backdrop of possible interest rate cut on saving certificates.
All indices at Dhaka and Chittagong bourses jumped at the beginning of the session and finished the day with phenomenal gains. The daily turnover at both the stock exchanges also rose substantially when a good number of investors were booking stocks in higher volume.
The broader price index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) ended the day with phenomenal 154.76 points or 3.75 percent rise at 4277.04 when the blue-chip DS30 gained by 58.97 points or 3.78 percent to 1617.17.
The Shariah DSES, which experienced high volatility in the recent trading sessions, also posted 31.08 points or 3.07 percent rise to surge at 1041.49. The 3.0 percent plus rise in all the three indices at single session was exceptional.
