Stocks rise for second consecutive day

The stock market rose in the first two hours of trading on Wednesday and ended the day on an increasing trend as buoyant investors went for buying stocks.
The DSEX, the benchmark index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), increased 106 points or 1.55 er cent to 6,974 until 11.59 am.
At the end of the trading hour, the index rose more than 114 points or 1.66 per cent, to 6,982.
Turnover at the DSE rose 15 per cent to Tk 1,163 crore, which was Tk 1,007 crore a day earlier.
At the DSE, stocks of 301 companies rose, 43 fell and 31 remains same.
ADN Telecom topped the gainers’ list that rose 9.79 per cent followed by Sena Kalyan Insurance, Islamic Finance, Advent Pharmaceuticals, and Dominage Steel Building.
Stocks of Beximco Ltd traded mostly that worth Tk 145 crore followed by Orion Pharmaceuticals, LafargeHolcim Bangladesh, Beximco Pharmaceuticals, and IFIC Bank.
Doreen Power shed mostly that dropped 7.62 per cent, followed by Hamid Fabrics, Eastern Insurance, Eastern Cables, and Fortune Shoes.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also rose on Wednesday. The CASPI, the main index of the CSE, rose 336 points, or 1.67 per cent, to 20,434.
Among 282 stocks traded, 228 rose, 30 fell and 24 remained unchanged.
