Stocks return to gaining track

Breaking the losing streak, stocks rebound on Wednesday as all indices of the country’s two bourses-Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chattogram Stock Exchange (CSE) were in green zone with active participation of investors.
However, the turnover in DSE, the important indicator of the market, declined to Tk 368 crore from the Tuesday’s Tk 379.40 crore. The daily trade volume also declined to 9.83 crore shares from previous session’s 10.28 crore shares.
The broader DSEX index of DSE closed the day with 23.66 points up to close at 5,276.33. The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 6.41 points up to settle at 1,218.37 and with 8.06 points up to close at 1,872.02.
At DSE, gainers dominated the day’s trading as out of the day’s 341 securities, 155 gained against 145 losing issues. The five top gaining issues were BD Finance, Advent Pharma, BBS Cables, Prime Tex and Shahjalal Islami Bank while five top losers were Meghna Pet, United Insurance, AAMRA Net, CAN Tex and Emerald Oil.
In the port city Chattogram, the CSE closed upward with its All Share Price Index – CASPI -gained 82.30 points to close at 16,215.97. The gainers outnumbered the losers in the day’s trading as 109 issues closed up against 86 losing securities on the CSE. The port city bourse traded 79.73 lakh shares and mutual fund units worth Tk 21.97 crore in turnover.
