Stocks return to gaining streak

Breaking a two-day losing streak, stocks rebound today as all indices of the country’s two bourses-Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) were in green zone with active participation of investors.
However, the turnover in DSE, the important indicator of the market, declined to Tk 801.42 crore from the Sunday’s Tk 844.80 crore. DSEX, the key index of DSE, gained 30.13 points to settle at 5440.95 and two other indices followed the same trend as DS-30 gained 7.45 points to close at 1909.70 while Shariah index-DSES 6.94 points to settle at 1264.07. Gainers dominated the day’s trading on DSE as out of a total 339 traded issues, 170 gained against 112 losing securities. Top five gainers were Apolo Ispat, Olympic Accessories, Central Pharma, National Life Insurance and Khan Br others PP and the top five losers were BIFC, Legacy Footwear, BB Autocars, United Insurance and Nurani Dyeing. In the port city Chattogram, the CSE ended higher with its All Share Price Index – CASPI -advancing 78.77 points to close at 16,774.71. The gainers beat the losers as 125 issues closed up against 92 losing issues and 26 remained unchanged on the CSE. The port city bourse traded 1.87lakh shares and mutual fund units worth Tk 35.83 crore in turnover.
