Stocks recover on large-cap concentration

The stock markets in both Dhaka and Chittagong ended on Tuesday with a trend of recovery as the major indices were found finishing upwards with marginal rise of large-cap securities.
The rising major sectors included textile, banks, fuel and power and insurance. A total of 138 securities of the large-cap group rose due to higher activities.
DSEX – the major price index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) – finished the session of the week with 16.68 points up at 5,373.26.
The blue-chip DS30 and Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with 2.73 points up at 1991.99 and with 0.68 point up at 1248.76 respectively.
The daily turnover in value at DSE was Taka 317.89 crore and the volume of traded shares was 10.37 crore.
Among the traded 324 issues at DSE, 167 closed higher against 106 losing issues. The top five gaining companies were PDL, NCC Bank, Family Textile, Doreen Power and Peoples Insurance.
The major losers included DBH Ist Mutual Fund, Standard Insurance, Sonargaon, ICB AMCL 2nd and IFIC 1st Mutual Fund.
BSC topped the turnover list followed by Doreen Power, UPGDCL, PDL and Ifad Autos. The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with upward trend with its major CASPI 27.74 points up at 16,600.06.
At CSE, 216 issues were traded. Of those, 101 closed higher and 78 closed lower when 23.89 crore shares worth Taka 0.84 crore changed hands.
