Stocks recover on higher trade

Stocks rebounded on Tuesday on higher trade while many investors were booking shares those became cheaper due to continuous price fall in the past few sessions.
The daily trade volume surged to 19.20 crore shares from Monday’s 15.24 crore, with the transaction value increased to Taka 646.56 crore over Taka 644.11 crore of the previous session.
The higher transaction drove prices of many issues up. Out of the day’s 319 traded issues, 167 gained against 110 losing securities.
The large-cap securities were on the top of the recovery trend, with 145 securities of this cap category closing higher. Mutual funds also recovered considerably when 11 funds out of traded 33 ended up. A total of 19 funds, however, traded at their previous closing prices.
The day’s major gainers were Orion Pharma, RD Food, Emerald Oil, NTC and NHFIL. The major losers included Standard Cement, GHCL, Shympur Sugar, Golden Son and Squire Pharma.
Squire Pharma topped the turnover leaders followed by Shasha Denim, BBS, Doreen Power and National Tubes. Like DSE, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also recovered significantly, with its CASPI index ending nearly 35 points up at 14332.61.
The daily transaction at CSE, however, was down while the trade volume fell to 1.24 crore shares from Monday’s 1.37 crore and value declined to Taka 40 crore over Taka 41.35 crore of the previous session.
