Stocks recover after two-days’ fall

Stocks on Tuesday showed a recovery trend after witnessing a fall in the past two trading sessions. The trade value and volume remained at moderate level, though rose significantly over the previous session.
The broader DSEX of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) recovered nearly 22 points to finish the day at 4797.17, with the blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES regained marginally to 1879.15 and 1189.05 accordingly.
The trade value rose to Taka 720 crore and the volume to 18.91 crore shares over Monday’s 14.94 crore shares worth Taka 648 crore.
The lively activities helped 165 securities close higher against 109 losing and 44 static issues.
The day’s major gainers were Standard Ceramic, Monno Ceramic, Islami Finance, Asian Tiger and FBFIF when Savar Ref, Zeal Bangla, Jute Spinning, Style Craft and BGIC were the major lagging issues.
Squire Pharma topped the turnover list followed by Lafarge Surma, UPGDCL, Beximco and KPCL.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also finished the day upward, with its major CSCX index gaining over 55 points to close at 8962.39.
Out the traded 260 issues, 150 gained, 82 incurred loss and 28 remained unchanged when 1.57 crore shares worth Taka 54.86 crore changed hands.
