Stocks rebound on both bourses

After witnessing a downward trend in the last session, stocks on Monday rebounded in the Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges as investors remained active on sector-wise issues.
DSEX, the key index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 62.42 points or 1.67 per cent to settle at 5,412.20. Two other indices also edged higher. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, advanced 32.29 points to finish at 2,066.86 and the DSE Shariah Index gained 9.47 points to close at 1,235.95.
Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, stood at Taka 6,931.71 million, which was Taka 6159.752 billion.
Gainers took a modest lead over the losers as out of 353 issues traded, 188 ended higher, 57 closed lower and 108 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
Beximco continued to dominate the turnover chart, followed by Premier Bank, NRBC Bank, Robi and Beximco Pharma.
NRBC Bank was the day’s best performer, posting a gain of 32 per cent while GBB Power was the worst loser, losing 4.32 per cent.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange also ended higher with its All Shares Price Index (CASPI)-gaining 191.25 points to close at 115,677.88 while the Selective Categories Index – CSCX rising 115.08 points to close at 9,458.04.
