The index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) rose on Monday after a fall on Sunday while the turnover of the bourse crossed Tk 900 crore after four days. The DSEX, the benchmark index of the DSE, rose 16 points, or 0.24 per cent, to 6,758 at the end of the day’s trading.
At the DSE, 176 stocks advanced, 153 declined and 50 remained the same. Turnover, a key indicator of the market, increased to Tk 924 crore, 7 per cent up from the previous day’s Tk 845 crore.
Beximco became the most traded stock with shares worth Tk 48 crore changing hands followed by LafargeHolcim Bangladesh, Fortune Shoes, Genex Infosys and BDCOM Online.
Bangladesh Lamps topped the gainers’ list that rose 8.74 per cent followed by Paper Processing, Bangladesh National Insurance, Bangladesh Monospool Paper Manufacturing and LafargeHolcim Bangladesh. Khulna Power shed mostly with a fall of 2 per cent followed by Pragati Life Insurance, Khulna Printing and Packaging, Atlas Bangladesh and Imam Button. The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also increased on Monday. The CASPI, the main index of the bourse, edged up 18 points, or 0.09 per cent, to 19,789. Among the traded 295 companies at the CSE, 110 rose, 140 fell and 45 remained unchanged.
