Stocks rebound after 7-day losing streak

Stocks closed Monday higher as buyers were comparatively active that also drove prices of most of the traded issues up. All the indices at Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges finished the session in green.
The markets were downbeat in the last seven days, taking the broader index at the prime bourse down at the close of every trading session since February 15.
DSEX, the broader index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), closed the session with 23.86 points up at 5,798.43. The blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with 14.08 points up at 2,141.18 and 7.48 points up at 1,356.16 respectively.
At DSE, out of the day’s 334 securities, prices of 168 securities closed higher against 106 losing issues.
The daily trade increased to 8.03 crore shares from Sunday’s 7.89 crore shares. But the day’s trade value at DSE decreased to Taka 321.92 crore from Taka 350.63 crore of the previous session.
The major gaining issues were United Insurance, Green Delta, Pragati Insurance, ACI Formula and Apex Foods. The major losing companies were Berger PBL, Unique Hotel and Resorts, Legacy Foot, ISNLTD and SEMLLECMF.
Olympic topped the turnover list followed by GP, Square Pharma, Unique Hotel and Resort and AL Arafah Bank. The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with upward trends with its major CASPI 93.29 points up at 17,942.87.
