Stocks performed mixed on Wednesday with major indices finishing flat on higher activities of some large cap securities despite decline in the daily transactions.
The rising major sectors were pharmaceutical and chemical, textile and engineering. A total of 122 securities of the large-cap group moved up due to higher activities.
The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the day with 6.47 points down at 6,025.27. The blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 3.62 points down at 2,178.25. But the Shariah DSES closed the day with 2.06 points up at 1,327.76.
The day’s trade value at DSE decreased to Taka 528.53 crore from Tuesday’s Taka 615.68 crore and the daily trade fell to 13.71 crore shares from 16.51 crore shares of the previous session.
At DSE, out of the day’s 331 securities, prices of 155 securities closed higher against 141 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were Wata Chemical, GQ Ball Pen, Apex Spinning, Desh Garments and Rangpur Foundry. The major losing companies were ISNLTD, Union Capital, Monno Stafler, Saiham Textile and Meghna Condense Milk.
Aamra Net topped the turnover list followed by BRAC Bank, ICB, Uttara Bank and Lanka Bangla Finance. The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with downward trend with its major CASPI 12.09 points down at 18,708.84.
At CSE, 243 issues were traded. Of those, 115 closed higher and 96 closed lower when 95.06 lakh shares worth Taka 26.42 crore changed hands.
