Stock markets performed mixed on Tuesday as major indices finished with downward trends despite increase in the daily transactions.
The day’s trade value at DSE rose to Taka 1,203.47 crore from Monday’s Taka 1,152.34 crore and the daily trade increased to 36.65 crore shares from 32.68 crore shares of the previous session.
The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) finished the day with 1.81 points lower at 6,149.40. The blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with 8.06 points up at 2,200.72 and with 6.04 points up at 1,365.65.
Out of 332 traded issues, 157 incurred loss when 127 closed with some gains. The mutual funds also experienced a bad day, with 11 funds ending lower against only six gaining scrips.
Among the most losing securities were Meghna Cement, Mithun Knitting, Shurwid, Zeal Bangla and Green Delta Insurance. The gaining issues were FAS Finance, Fareast Finance, NHFIL, Kohinoor and ILFSL.
Lanka Bangla Finance topped the turnover list followed by MJL BD, FAS Finance, Premier Bank and GP.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with downward trend with its major CASPI 28.60 points down at 19,044.
At CSE, 254 issues were traded. Of those, 108 closed higher and 120 closed lower.
