Stocks pass FY’ 17 with upward trend

Stocks on the country’s prime bourse continued to maintain upward trend on Thursday, the last trading session of the fiscal year 2016-17, with strong participation of investors in trading.
The turnover in Dhaka Stock Exchange 9DSE) reached three months high on the day.
The broader DSEX of DSE closed the day with 9.76 points up at 5,656.05 over the previous day. The blue-chip DS30, however, closed the session with 0.16 points down at 2083.80 while the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) closed with 5.77 points up at 1,296.74.
Turnover rose to Taka 801.19 crore, which was nearly 28 per cent higher than the previous day’s Taka 628 billion and 24.40 crore shares exchanged hands on the day.
Gainers dominated the market as out of the 329 traded issues on DSE, 154 gained against 134 losing securities while 41 remained unchanged.
