Stocks open week up on large-cap vibe

Stocks opened week up on Sunday with all the indices at Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges finishing upwards on higher activities of large-cap securities.
The rising major sectors were pharmaceutical and chemical, textile, insurance and engineering. A total of 152 securities moved up due to higher activities.
The broader DSEX of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) finished the day with 27.13 points up at 5,456.82. The two selective indices-DS30 and DSES-were also marginally up at 2023.19 points and 1269.43 points respectively.
Majority of the issues traded on the two bourses closed the day up on moderate demand. Out of the 339 issues traded on DSE, 179 gained against 110 losing issues.
The trade value at DSE decreased to Taka 445.96 crore from the previous session’s Taka 473.44 crore. But the trade volume also rose to 11.97 crore from 11.64 crore shares of Thursday trading.
The five major gaining companies were Central PHL, Shasha Denims, Provati Insurance, Monno Stafflers and Atlas Bangla.
The five major losing companies were Rupali Bank, NBL, Sonar Bangla Insurance, Rupali Insurance and Meghna Pet. The top five turnover leaders were Berger PBL, INTRACO, UPGDCL, WMSHIPYARD and BSRM Limited.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed the day up, with its major CASPI index ending 102.84 points higher at 16,832.66. At CSE, 230 issues were traded. Of those, 130 issues closed higher while 74 issues lower.
