Stocks opened the week on Sunday upward with rising trend of all the indices at Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges on higher activities of large-cap securities.
The rising major sectors were textile, insurance, ceramics and fuel and power. A total of 132 securities moved up due to higher activities.
The broader DSEX of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) finished the day with 24.19 points up at 5,865.38. The two selective indices – DS30 and DSES – also followed the same trend with 4.45 points up at 2,198.99 and with 2.62 points up at 1,359.16 points respectively.
Out of the 334 issues traded on DSE, 164 gained against 134 losing issues. The trade value at DSE increased to Taka 622.06 crore from the previous session’s Taka 572.04 crore and the trade volume also rose to 19.09 crore from 14.76 crore shares of Thursday trading.
The five major gaining companies were ALIF, Popular Life Insurance, Monno Ceramics, GBB Power and KBPPWBIL. The five major losing companies were Northern Jute, Islamic Finance, Continental Insurance, SAVAREFR and Zaheen Spinning.
The top five turnover leaders were Beximco, ALIF, BRAC Bank, UNIQUEHRL and Monno Ceramics. Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed the day up, with its major CASPI index ending 70.36 points higher at 18,088.13.
