Stocks open week up on large-cap vibe

Stocks Sunday opened the week up with all the indices at Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges finishing upwards on higher activities of large-cap securities.
The rising major sectors were insurance and financial institutions. A total of 223 securities moved up due to higher activities. The broader DSEX of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) finished the day with 104.92 points up at 5335.70. The two selective indices- DS30 and DSES- were also marginally up at 1,849.85 points and 1,215.13 points respectively. Majority of the issues traded on the two bourses closed the day up on moderate demand. Out of the 344 issues traded on DSE, 271 gained against 45 losing issues.
The trade value at DSE increased to Taka 443.56 crore from the previous session’s Taka 290.68 crore while the trade volume also rose to 17.74 crore from 10.77 crore shares of Thursday trading.
The five major gaining companies were SKTRIMS, Sonar Bangla Insurance, Agrani Insurance, FASFIN and Global Insurance while the five major losing companies were Savar EFR, Meghna Pet, Daffodil Computer, Pragati Insurance and NFML.
The top five turnover leaders were Fortune, IFIC, Exim Bank, SKTRIMS and Uttara Bank.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed the day up with its major CASPI index ending 305.20 points higher at 16,307.04. At CSE, 235 issues were traded. Of those, 179 issues closed higher while 34 issues lower.
