Stocks open week up on large-cap vibe

Stocks opened week up on Sunday with all the indices at Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges with upwards on higher activities of large-cap securities.
The rising major sectors were engineering, textile and pharmaceuticals and chemicals. A total of 136 securities moved up due to higher activities.
The broader DSEX of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) finished the day with 9.52 points up at 5,290.77. The Shariah DSES closed the day with 2.84 points up at 1,226.31. But the blue-chip DS30 closed the day with 6.08 points down at 1,855.48.
Out of the 335 issues traded at the DSE, 181 gained against 119 losing issues.
The trade value at the DSE decreased to Taka 1,756.92 crore from the previous session’s Taka 1,796.92 crore and the trade volume also fell to 17.57 crore from 17.97 crore shares of Thursday’s trading.
The five major gaining companies were OAL, Zaheen Spinning, Fars Chemicals, PDL and BBS Cables. The five major losing companies were National Tubes, BXSYNTH, Libra Infusion, Saiham Textile and NTC.
The top five turnover leaders were SKTRIMS, UPGDCL, Saiham Cotton, KTL and Advent.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed the day up, with its major CASPI index ending 44.09 points higher at 16,226.42.
At the CSE, 223 issues were traded. Of those, 122 issues closed higher while 69 issues lower.
