Stocks open week up on large-cap vibe

Stocks opened week upward on Sunday with all the indices at Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges finishing upwards on higher activities of large-cap securities.
Major sectors including food and allied, insurance and service and real estate finished higher when 148 securities ended higher against 71 declining issues. The major losing sectors included financial institution, jute, paper and printing and textile.
The broader DSEX of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) finished the day 33.82 points up at 5,546.29. The two selective indices – DS30 and DSES – were also marginally up at 2011.24 and 1294.78 respectively.
Majority of the issues traded on the two bourses closed the week up on moderate demand. Out of the 329 issues traded on DSE, 185 gained against 89 losing issues.
The trade value at DSE increased to Taka 966.84 crore from the previous session Taka 913.55 crore while the trade volume also rose to 26.31 crore from 26.02 crore shares of Thursday trading.
