Stocks open week in red as major sectors dip

Stocks began the week on Sunday in red as the major sectors plunged further with falling trend at both the Dhaka and Chittagong Stock exchanges.
All the major sectors including engineering, miscellaneous, paper and printing and cement were down on the day while food and allied and tannery industries issues managed some gains.
The broader DSEX index of DSE 31.14 points down at 4605.09. The blue-chip DS30 and Shariah DSES also were in the following trend to close 16.49 points down at 1734.95 and 9.13 points down at 1100.68 respectively.
CSE also closed the day down with its major CASPI index closing about 98.58 points at 14,158.49.
The transactions at DSE were 12.87 core shares valued at total Taka 457.16 crore.
At DSE, out of the day’s 324 traded issues, price of 91 securities closed higher against 191 losing issues. At CSE, issues traded were 230 while 67 closed higher against 149 closing lower.
The major gaining issues were Ghail, Fortune, Peninsula, JMS SMDL and PTL. The major losing issues were Sino Bangla, Golden son, KPPL, KBPPWBIL and ARAMITCEM.
Doreen Power topped the turnover leaders followed by KPCL, MJL BD, Fortune, Ifad Autos and JMI SMDL.
