Stocks open week in red

Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) opened week in red, with extending the loss for the second consecutive trading session on Sunday.
The broader DSEX price index was down by 36.58 points to close at 4536.00. The blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES closed flat at 1761.63 and 1111.11 respectively.
The daily turnover fell to Taka 468.22 crore and the volume to 12.39 crore shares from Taka 504 crore for 14.87 crore shares of Thursday.
Out of the traded 312 securities, 130 ended higher when 132 incurred loss and 50 remained static. Most of the losing issues were from A-category shares, indicating that investors were offloading large-cap scrips apparently for cashing for Eid spending.
Mutual funds were doing better amid relatively higher activities round this sector. Out of the traded 35 funds, 12 advanced against eight declining ones.
The major gaining companies were Standard Ceramic, Hakkani Pulp, Far Eastern Life and ACI. The major losing companies were FBFIF, Tung Hai, Midas Finance, BD Auto Cars and 7th ICB.
Lafarge Surma became the top turnover leader followed by OAL, Beximco, ACI and UPGDCL.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (DSE) also opened the week downbeat, with the general CSCX losing 67.14 points to 8509.51.
Out of 228 issues traded, only 47 advanced when 158 incurred loss and 47 remained static. The trade value was Taka 31 crore for 99.65 crore shares.
