Stocks open week flat

Stock markets opened week flat on Sunday as major indices finishing slightly down and daily transactions declining on cautious buying.
The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the opening session 0.73 points down at 4822.29 when the blue-chip DS30 followed it to finish flat 4.40 points down at 1783.29. The Shariah DSES was marginally up at 1149.55.
The daily trade value fell to Taka 733.40 crore from Thursday’s Taka 803.45 crore and the volume declined to 22.76 crore shares from 24.87 crore shares of the week’s closing session.
Out of the day’s 322 issues, 126 closed higher against 139 losing securities. The day’s major gainers were Envoy Textile, Rahim Textile, Argon Denims Limited, Exim First Mutual Fund and Evince Textile. The most losing securities included National Tubes, Hakkani Pulp, Takaful Insurance, Sandhani Insurance and YPL.
BBS topped the turnover list followed by National Tubes, Lafarge Surma Cement, Ifad Autos, and Shasha Denims.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) began the week upward with its major CASPI index closing flat in green at 14854.81.
