Stocks open week down as major sectors dip

Stocks opened week downward as major sectors closing the session with falling trend at both Dhaka and Chittagong Stock exchanges on Sunday.
The broader index DSEX of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) finished the session with 5.15 points down at 6,165.32. But, the blue-chip DS30 and Shariah DSES closed the session with 2.28 points up at 2,199.81 and with 4.32 points up at 1,366.21 respectively.
Out of the traded 331 issues, 207 suffered losses across the board while the trade value fell to Taka 662.02 crore from Thursday’s Taka 780.57 crore and the volume to 23.24 crore shares from Thursday’s 29.24 crore shares.
The major gaining issues were Monno Ceramics, Standard Ceramics, Aamra Technology, Miracle Industries and Shahjalal Bank. The major losing companies were Fareast Life, Meghna condense Milk, Meghna Pet, MBL1STMF and Safko Spinning.
Shahjalal Bank topped the turnover leaders followed by Uttara Bank, NBL, Jamuna Bank and Exim Bank.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also finished Sunday’s session in red, with major CASPI index closing 23.69 points down at 19,130.25.
