Stocks open the week upward

Stocks opened the week upward today as all indices on the country’s two bourses- the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE)- gained marginally.
Turnover, a vital indicator of the market, stood at Taka 1054.93 crore, on the DSE. The bourse traded a total of 22.39 crore shares on the day.
DSEX, the broad index of the DSE, gained 1.76 points to settle at 5339.18. Two other indices followed the same trend as DS30 index, comprising blue chips and advanced 4.06 points to finish at 1908.53 and DSE Shariah index gained 1.49 points to settle at 1274.58.
Out of 339 traded issues, 142 closed higher, 171 closed lower and 26 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
Top five gainers on the day were AAMRA Technology, AFC Agro, Nahee Aluminum, S Alam Rerolling and Quasem Industries and Imam Button, Savar REF, United Air, Jute Spinning and Meghna Pet were the top five losers.
In the port city, CSE also closed upward with the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) advanced 7.83 points to finish at 16452.06.
The gainers dominated the trading as 118 issues closed higher, 107 lower and 19 remained unchanged on the CSE trading floor.
CSE traded 2.31 crore shares and mutual fund units worth more than Taka 80.12 crore in turnover.
