Stocks on the country’s prime bourse opened the week Sunday downward trend as the border DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the day with 20.57 points down at 5,455.17.
The DS30 index, comprising the blue-chips, fell 4.74 points to finish at 2,032.28 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also witnessed a 4.35 points fall to close at 1,263.98. The market turnover on the day stood at Tk 469.01 crore and 12.60 crore shares exchanged hands.
Out of 331 issues traded, 87 advanced, 193 declined and 51 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
The top gaining issues included Sheperd Industry, Kohinoor Chemical, Islami Insurance, HR Tex, Hakkani Pulp, City Bank and EXIM 1st Mutual Fund.
Savar EFR, Shayampur Sugar, Progati Insurance, Asia Pacific Insurance, Northern Insurance, Prime Life Insurance were among the top losers. The port city bourse, the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), also closed lower with its major CASPI 50.69 points down to settle at 16915.20.
