Stocks opened the week down on Sunday as all indices on the country’s both bourses-Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE)-witnessed a major fall.
Following the previous week’s major upward trend, the boarder DSEX index of DSE closed the first day of the week 30.18 points down at 5813.29. The blue-chip DS 30 also followed the same trend with 17.11points down at 2187.06. The Shariah DSES closed the day with 12.14 points down at 1353. 45.
Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, stood at Taka 492.41 crore on the DSE which was Taka 577.47 crore on Thursday last. The daily trade volume declined to 13.61 crore shares from Thursday’s 15.62 crore shares.
Out of 338 issues traded, 188 declined, 113 advanced and 37 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
