Stocks on both bourses open the week down

Stocks on the country’s both bourses-Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) — opened the week down on Sunday as indices maintained a downward trend with poor participation of investors.
The boarder DSEX index of DSE closed the day 54.62 points down at 5775.37. The blue-chip DS 30 also followed the same trend with 17.65 points down at 2126.18 and the Shariah DSES lost 9.21 points to close at 1363.79.
Out of 330 issues traded, 53 advanced, 246 declined and 31 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor. A total of 6.46 crore shares and mutual funds shared hands on the day and the turnover, the key indicator of the DSE was Tk 263.74.
The top five gainers of the day were – Asia Pacific Insurance, Fareast Life Insurance, HR Textiles, Hawawell Textiles and Tosrifa Industries.
Lankabangla Finance, Zaheen Spinning, EBL First Mutual Fund, IDLC and United Insurance were the top five losers.
In the port city, CSE also closed lower with All Shares Price Index or CASPI – losing 124.78 points to close at 17875.89. Losers dominated the day as 163 issues closed lower, 37 closed higher and 21 remained unchanged on the CSE.
The port city bourse traded 45.57 lakh shares and mutual fund units worth Tk 12.04 crore in turnover.
