Stocks maintain upward trend with higher transactions

Stocks maintained upward trend on Wednesday as major indices of both Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges were found finishing upward trend with higher transactions of some large-cap securities.
The rising major sectors were engineering, insurance, textile and ceramics. A total of 165 securities from the large cap group move up due to higher activities.
The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange closed the day with 31.18 points up at 5,496.44. The Shariah DSES and the blue-Chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 4.00 points up at 1,249.81 and 4.78 points up at 1,912.98.
The day’s trade value at DSE increased to Taka 696.46 crore from Tuesday’s Taka 530.17 crore and the daily trade declined to 19.84 crore shares from 15.30 crore shares of the previous session. At DSE, out of the day’s 345 securities, prices of 225 securities closed higher against 80 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were QUASEMIND, United Insurance, Aziz Pipes, Saiham Textile and Monno Ceramics. The major losing issues were AIBL1STIMF, All Textile, ICBIBANK, Bay Leasing and National Life Insurance.
BBS Cables topped the turnover list followed by PTL, Ifad Autos, Saiham Cotton and Beximco. The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with upward trend with its major CASPI 133.18 points up at 16,863.99.
CSE, issues traded 259 while 181 closed higher against 52 closed lower when 1.23 crore shares worth Taka 30.29 crore changed hands.
