Stocks maintain upward trend with higher transactions

Stocks maintained upward trend on Tuesday as the major indices of both Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges were found upward with higher transactions of large-cap securities.
The rising major sectors were banks, textile and engineering. A total of 125 securities of the large-cap group incurred gain due to higher activities.
The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the day with 9.46 points up at 5394.82. The blue-chip DS30 and Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with 3.76 points up at 1997.54 and with 4.04 points up at 1258.48.
The daily turnover in volume increased to 16.33 crore shares from Monday’s 16.02 crore shares and the day’s trade value rose to Taka 612.78 crore from Taka 560.42 crore of the previous session of the week.
At DSE, out of the day’s 320 traded issues, prices of 148 securities closed higher against 125 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were Rupali Bank, ICB 3RD NRB, Regent Textile, Asian Insurance and Atlas Bangladesh. The major losing companies were NCC Bank, Dhaka Bank, Paramount, Aziz Pipes and Central Insurance. UPGDCL topped the turnover list followed by Ifad Autos, MJL BD, RSRM Steel and Doreen Power.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with upward trend with its major CASPI 48.49 points up at 16701.09.
