Stocks maintain upward trend on higher transactions

Stocks maintained upward trends on Wednesday as major indices of both Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges rose up on higher transactions.
The day’s trade value at DSE increased to Taka 765.60 crore from Tuesday’s Taka 744.50 crore and the daily trade also rose to 21.57 crore share from 20.48 crore share of the previous session.
The broader DSEX of DSE closed the day with 29.38 points up at 6,159.07. The blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with 19.16 points up at 2,229.88 and with 8.14 points up at 1,336.85.
At DSE, out of the day’s 331 securities, prices of 117 securities closed higher against 163 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were Monno Ceramics, RECKITTBEN, Eastern Lubricant, Style Craft and National Tubes while the major losing issues were Maksons Spinning, Jute Spinning, OIMEX, Daffodil Computer and Shyampur Sugar.
City Bank topped the turnover list followed by GP, Dhaka Bank, Uttara Bank and OIMEX.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with upward trends with its major CASPI 71.78 points up at 19,096.27. At CSE, 237 issues were traded. Of those, 91 closed higher and 112 closed lower.
