Stocks maintain upward trend

The stocks maintained upward trends on Wednesday on higher transactions.
At Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), DSEX finished the day with 14.90 points up at 5,891.16 which were the highest after the introduction of the DSEX on January 27, 2013. But the Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 closed the day with 1.23 points down at 1,315.15 and with 5.29 points down at 2,131.66.
The day’s trade value at DSE increased to Taka 1,238.74 crore from Tuesday’s Taka 1,237.38 crore and the daily trade rose to 43.05 crore shares from 42.97 crore shares of the previous session.
At DSE, out of the day’s 329 securities, prices of 132 securities closed higher against 155 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were Rupali Bank, RD Food, GRAMEENS2, Tung Hai and AB Bank. The major losing issues were Sino Bangla, Islami Insurance, SHYAMPSUG, Bata Shoes and SEMLIBBLSF. Lanka Bangla Finance topped the turnover list followed by CAN Textile, Saif Power, Tung Hai and Fu Wang Foods.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with upward trend with its major CASPI 57.14 points up at 18,278.60.
At CSE, 262 issues were traded. Of those, 111 closed higher and 122 closed lower while 2.72 crore shares worth Taka 69.13 crore changed hands.
