Stocks maintain upward trend

Stocks maintained an upward trend on both bourses as trading resumed Wednesday after five days of Eid vacation.
Share trading at Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges remained closed from June 23 to 27 for Eid-ul-Fitr.
The broader DSEX of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the day with 47.21 points up at 5,646.28. The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 followed the same trend with 5.11 points up at 1290.97 and with 12.56 points up at 2083.97.
Out of the 327 issues traded on DSE, 221 gained against 74 losing issues.
The day’s trade value at DSE stood at Tk 628.08 crore and 17.14 crore shares changed hands on the day.
The top five gainers of the day were CVO Petrochemical Refinery, Green Delta, Prime Bank and Mithun Knitting. The major losing issues of the day included Asian Pacific Insurance, Salvo Chemicals, Sinobangla, Agrani Insurance, United Insurance, ISN Limited and National Tubes Limited.
The top five turnover leaders were LankaBangla Finance, Regent Textile Mills, CVO PRL, BEXIMCO Limited and Prime Bank.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed the day up, with its major CASPI index ending 154.20 points higher at 17,496.88.
At CSE, 222 issues were traded while 146 gained against 52 losing issues.
